How to Clean Every Kind of Smartphone Case
As A Pet-lover, Keeping Your Phone In Tip-top Shape Is A Must
Chances are, there are a few items that you never go anywhere without. Your keys, your wallet, and of course, your trusty cellphone. These items are the “everyday carry” for many, with those who prefer to keep things as simple as possible not carrying much else with them.
Your smartphone keeps you connected with family, friends and the rest of the world. It can help you get where you need to go with its handy GPS, and, most importantly, can be used to take photos of your pets. For all these purposes and many more, your smartphone is an indispensable part of your day-to-day life.
There are, of course, two major camps that you are most likely to align with when it comes to your smartphone of choice – Android and Apple. No matter which team you are on, though, we can all agree that any smartphone can play a key role in the special relationship between a pet and its owner. Having your phone around at all times makes it easier than ever to preserve the memories that you make with your pets. Capturing and holding onto these memories is one of the most sweet and special parts of being a pet owner.
One of the best parts of owning a smartphone is the many opportunities for personalization that it offers. A smartphone can be easily equipped with a protective case to reduce the risk of scratches, dings and cracks in its screen. Your phone case can be more than just a helpful tool, though – it also gives you the opportunity to express yourself, and even to celebrate your love for your pet!
At Crown & Paw, we are all about providing you with opportunities to show off your pets looking their best. That’s why we came up with our personalizable smartphone case designs, which can feature your pet in a wide variety of outfits based on movies, TV, history, and more! Outfitting your phone with one of these cases is the perfect way to show the world how awesome your pet is.
Because your phone serves so many important purposes in your life and your pets’ lives, it’s well worth it to keep its case as clean as possible. Keep reading for a quick, simple and step-by-step guide to cleaning a smartphone case to keep it free from dust, grime and germs.
Smartphone Case Cleaning Step One: Gather Your Materials
Smartphone cases can be cleaned well with only a few supplies, which you almost definitely already have around your house.
No matter what material your phone case is made of, the best cloth to use for cleaning your case is a microfiber towel. Microfiber cloths will not scratch your phone or its case because they are soft and non-abrasive enough to clean even the most delicate surfaces and materials. If you don’t already own microfiber towels, fear not – you can pick up a multipack of the towels from your local home improvement store, usually for less than ten dollars.
When cleaning a plastic phone case like one from Crown & Paw, all you need is a microfiber towel, some soap and water, and, if you want to be extra thorough, an old toothbrush. The simple combination of soap and water is gentle enough to use to clean even a printed phone case without running the risk of fading or damaging the print.
For phone cases made of wood or leather, you may need to modify your cleaning techniques a bit. These materials are more delicate and sensitive, and can be damaged by harsh scrubbing or overuse of water. If your phone case is made of wood, you may want to avoid using water entirely, or use it as minimally as possible. If your case is made of leather, you can use a microfiber towel with a little bit of leather conditioner to get the material back in good shape.
Smartphone Case Cleaning Step Two: Remove Your Phone’s Case
The second step in cleaning any smartphone case is taking the case off of your phone. You can clean your phone separately to make sure that both phone and case stay dust and grime-free!
Crown & Paw phone cases, both for iPhones and Samsung phones, can be easily removed by gently pushing on the top of the case, creating a gap between your phone and case. Once the phone and case are separated, you can slide the phone fully out of the case and set it aside for now. Crown & Paw’s phone cases are designed to be both sturdy and low-maintenance, protecting your phone as well as possible while still being easy to put on and take off.
Once you have removed your phone from its case, you’re ready to move on.
Smartphone Case Cleaning Step Three: Dry-Wipe Your Case
Before you start using any water or soap, begin your cleaning with a dry wipedown of your case. Using a microfiber towel, you can gently wipe off any dust or grime that is resting on the surface of your case. Sometimes, this dry wipedown will be enough to sufficiently clean your case, especially if it has not undergone too much major wear and tear.
If your smartphone case is made from a material that has ridges, grains or indentations, you may want to supplement your dry-wiping with a cotton swab or toothbrush. The coarse, small bristles of a toothbrush and the gentleness of a cotton swab can both be extremely helpful in getting more deeply embedded dust out of the grooves and ridges of your case.
Delicate materials like wood and leather often need to be cared for with a particularly gentle hand. Using smaller tools can often help you keep your use of water and cleaning agents to a minimum when dealing with these cases.
Smartphone Case Cleaning Step Four: Soap And Water
Ah, the trusty combination of soap and water. Is there anything it can’t do?
After you dry-wipe your case with a microfiber cloth, it’s time to start using some soap and water to clean the case even more thoroughly. You may be tempted to use a cleaning spray on your case to get the job done, but it is often best to stick with just the simple pairing of soap and water when cleaning your case.
Many cleaning sprays can be too harsh to use on your phone case, especially if it is printed. A Crown & Paw phone case has your precious pet’s likeness on it, and that means it needs to be handled with care! To keep your printed case looking great, stick with a gentle clean and avoid chemicals.
To let the soap and water work, you can either soak your phone case for a few minutes, or gently wipe down your case with a damp, soapy microfiber towel. Microfiber cloths are absorbent and water-resistant, making them ideal for circumstances where you don’t want to use too much water. While soaking can be a great option for a plastic or rubber case, opt for just a wet cloth when cleaning a leather case. If your case is made of wood, it’s best to avoid soap and water altogether and keep your cleaning to a minimum.
Once your case has been wiped down and is nice and dry, it’s ready to put back on your phone. That way, you can go back to proudly displaying your pet’s likeness on your case everywhere you go!
